THE SCIENCE BEHIND OUR GLOW

When we were designing our Firefly Glass™ here in Toronto, we wanted to make something that didn't use any electronics. We believe that natural, inner beauty is more important than anything, so we tried to approach the Firefly glow from that same angle. After countless hours of research and experimentation, we found it - silver-activated zinc sulfide.

SO... HOW IS IT MADE?

We're glad you asked. We pride ourselves on all our jewelry being handmade, and our Firefly Glass™ is no different. While the glass is being blown, we carefully suspend small particles of the silver-activated zinc sulfide within. This whole process is called "lampwork," which is the reason why our Firefly Glass™ is different from our Mermaid or Galaxy Glass, for instance.

Because the process of embedding these particles into the glass is so delicate, each bead comes out unique and slightly misshapen. But let's face it - perfect, identical jewelry was never up our alley. As we've said before, we're all about being different and finding beauty in that difference.

Once the glass beads are crafted, they're accessorized with a small .925 sterling silver or sterling gold vermeil NOGU tag and bead. At this point in time, all our Firefly Glass™ bracelets are made with an elastic cord to fit a wide variety of wrists.

⚡⚡HOW TO CHARGE⚡⚡

1) Supercharge your Firefly Glass™ in seconds with our NOGU Ultraviolet Light for a lightning-fast glow that emits more phosphorescence and lasts longer than any other charging method.

2) Charge under a bright lamp for up to 5 minutes. The stronger the light source, the brighter the phosphorescent glow!

3) Charge in the sun near a window. Place the bracelet in a bright sunbeam and let the bracelet charge for up to 10 minutes. The brighter the natural light beam, the brighter the phosphorescent glow!
